Midtjylland close to agreement with foreign club to sell Brentford-linked Super Eagles star
Published: June 20, 2021
Nigeria international Frank Onyeka has apparently played his last match for Danish Superliga side FC Midtjylland, according to reports.
The FC Ebedei product was not present when the Wolves started their pre-season preparations, despite pulling out of the Nigeria squad for their international matches against Cameroon, which has fueled speculation that a transfer is in the offing in the coming weeks.
Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet writes that FC Midtjylland is close to an agreement with a foreign club on a deal, and there are many indications that the arrow is pointing towards the sister club Brentford for the dynamic midfielder.
It is envisaged that Onyeka won't have problems obtaining a work permit to play in the Premier League despite having just one cap for the Nigeria national team in a friendly.
Of his 123 appearances for Midtjylland's first team, seventeen were earned in European competitions, including six in last season's Champions League, paving the way for him to move to England.
Onyeka is contracted to Midtjylland until the end of the 2023-2024 season.
