Chelsea striker and agent arrive in Belgium to complete four-year deal with Racing Genk
Published: August 24, 2021Racing Genk will in the coming days, if not hours, confirm the signing of Super Eagles hopeful Ike Ugbo.
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Ugbo and his bona fide agent Collins John, who turned out for the likes of Watford, Fulham and Leicester City among others before hanging up his boots, arrived in Belgium this morning.
The former England U17 international will undergo a medical examination at Racing Genk on Tuesday.
Ugbo will sign a four-year deal with Genk if he passes his medical, keeping him at the Limburg club until the end of the 2024-2025 season.
Several clubs in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Turkey, England and the Netherlands were interested in signing the Nigerian attacker but his preference was to return to Belgium, where he was a hit with Cercle Brugge last season, scoring 17 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions.
Ugbo has been on the books of Chelsea since 2007, joining as an U10 and rose through the ranks before signing his first professional contract shortly after his seventeenth birthday.
The 22-year-old enjoyed loan spells at Barnsley, MK Dons, Scunthorpe United, Roda JC and Cercle Brugge during his time at Stamford Bridge.
