'We have plenty of options' - Napoli boss names four players in line to replace Osimhen
Published: August 29, 2021
Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti will not be able to count on Victor Osimhen for his side's Serie A clash against Genoa at the Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris on Sunday evening.
The Nigeria international was handed a two-game ban for the red card he received midway through the first half in the opening day win against Venezia.
Apart from today's trip to Genoa, the former Lille and Wolfsburg man is not available for selection for the big clash with Juventus after the international break.
Without giving away his starting line-up, Spalletti namechecked Lorenzo Insigne, Hirving Lozano, Andrea Petagna and Adam Ounas as the players in contention to replace Osimhen.
"I'm going to keep you on tenterhooks until tomorrow. [Lorenzo] Insigne has played at centre forward before and so has [Hirving] Lozano. [Andrea] Petagna is a striker and [Adam] Ounas could come in handy too.
"We have plenty of options," Spalletti was quoted as saying by the official website of The Blues.
Five players classed as strikers including Matteo Politano were named in the traveling party to Genoa and will make the matchday squad barring an injury in the pre-match warm up.
