Man City's Nigeria-eligible winger takes goal contribution to 20 after assist vs Man Utd U18s
Published: March 05, 2022Manchester City came from a goal down to register a 5-1 win over Manchester United in an U18 Premier League North fixture at Trafford Training Centre in Carrington on Saturday afternoon.
Maxi Oyedele went the distance for the home team and Dire Mebude, the younger brother of Watford loanee Dapo, was in action for 81 minutes.
Despite going behind in the seventh minute, the tie was a free hit for Manchester City as they dominated the opponents with their brilliant attacking play.
Manchester United's lead lasted less than five minutes as Nico O'Reilly tapped home Mebude's cross to bring the game back to parity.
A hat-trick from Carlos Borges and Kian Breckin's goal ensured an easy win for Ben Wilkinson's side.
With his assist against the Red Devils, Mebude has reached double figures for goals and assists for Manchester City youth teams this season in all competitions, having netted ten goals and registered ten assists from twenty appearances.
The Scotland youth international winger signed his first professional contract with Manchester City in July 2021.
