Crystal Palace send scouts to watch 17-cap Nigeria international in Europa League
Published: April 18, 2022
Crystal Palace have reportedly stepped up their interest in signing Glasgow Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo in the summer.
Football Insider has reported that the Eagles are keeping tabs on the 17-cap Nigeria international and sent scouts to run the rule over him during Rangers' 3-1 win over Sporting Braga in the Europa League last Thursday.
The Crystal Palace talent spotters would have been impressed with what they saw of Aribo, who provided the assists for Rangers' first and third goal, and came close to getting on the scoresheet five minutes into the second half.
Palace are one of a number of Premier League clubs keeping tabs on the left-footed midfielder before the window opens.
With Conor Gallagher set to return to parent club Chelsea at the end of the season, Palace need at least one reinforcement in midfield ahead of the 2022-2023 campaign, and Aribo fits the bill due to his ability to play in all the midfield positions.
Statistically, on a personal level, he is having his best season as a professional with a goal involvement of 18 (8 goals, 10 assists) from fifty appearances in all competitions.
Aribo has made it clear that he is not interested in extending his contract with Rangers which runs out on June 30, 2023.
