Opinion : Only one Super Eagles star can replace Kante at Chelsea if Frenchman decides to leave
Published: June 02, 2022Chelsea's defensive midfielder N'Golo Kante is wanted by a number of European clubs, including PSG.
In the Premier League, rivals Manchester United are also showing an interest in signing the World Cup winner this summer.
While there is talk of a contract discussion, the recent change in ownership could change things and it is not yet known whether the Blues would want to keep Kante if a good offer is put on the table considering his age and fitness levels.
However, if the combative midfielder decides to leave Stamford Bridge, only one Super Eagles player can replace the Frenchman.
Wilfred Ndidi is the answer. He is the same man who replaced Kante at Leicester City and is the best option in the Super Eagles to do the same at Chelsea.
When it comes to English Premier League defensive midfielders, the Super Eagles star is among the best of his generation.
He may not be as relentless as Kante, but he is surely on the same level as the Frenchman in terms of combativeness and ball-winning.
While injuries have taken a toll, Ndidi is still 25 years old and has a lot of time to overcome them and return to his premium best again.
He is also a mentally strong player. To play for a club like Chelsea, one has to be mentally resilient and thankfully, Ndidi is not mentally weak.
Ndidi would be a great addition to Chelsea if they can add him to their transfer list and take him from the King Power Stadium this summer.
