Opinion : Three things 2019 Golden Eaglets invitee will offer Patrick Vieira at Crystal Palace
Published: June 26, 2022
The transfer of 2019 Golden Eaglets invitee to Crystal Palace is expected to be finalised within the next few days.
After signing a five-year contract that will keep him at Selhurst Park until 2027, the former Chelsea and Arsenal academy youngster will return to London.
Ebiowei is highly talented and allnigeriasoccer.com takes a look at three things the quick-footed winger will offer Patrick Vieira at Selhurst Park.
Flexibility
While primarily being a touchline winger, Ebiowei is a versatile player who has the skill set to play in multiple positions across the frontline.
He occasionally played as an advanced midfielder during his time in Arsenal's academy.
Alongside tricky men like Eberechi Eze, Micheal Olise and Wilfried Zaha, Vieira would be able to use various systems during the course of a game or for his next matches.
Control
Ebiowei's first touches on the pitch are well refined for such a young player. It is sometimes surprising to see what the 18-year-old can do with the ball at his feet.
He is also a great player between the lines which enables him to exert control during games.
In modern football, control is a necessity and Vieira has always tried to take the initiative with his set-ups. Ebiowei will help the former Arsenal captain achieve this.
Directness
Ebiowei is a rangy winger with raw pace and a relentless dribbling attitude. His dribbling style is also very good in winning fouls and freekicks in dangerous areas.
Ebiowei loves to entice opponents in with a drag on the ball. Then he turns quickly before shifting the ball past their trailing leg which gives the defender two options. He either lets the move continue or he stops Ebiowei by fouling him.
This is an important trait in a Premier League environment and Patrick Vieira would relish this.
