Nigerian dazzler resumes training at Rangers B ahead of potential move, liked by Leicester City too
Published: July 08, 2022Scottish Premiership giants Glasgow Rangers continue to run the rule over Nigerian-born dazzler Thompson Ishaka, with a view to signing him.
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report with certainty that the Light Blues have maintained a long-term interest in the hugely talented teenage winger.
Rangers invited Ishaka to train with their B team earlier in the year and he also featured for the side when they faced Nottingham Forest development squad in a friendly staged in England two months ago.
The attack-minded player has been reinvited to take part in Rangers B pre-season preparations after which a decision will be made on whether to pursue a deal.
David McCallum, head coach of Rangers B, would have been impressed with his imperious display during Wednesday's 4-0 rout of Elgin City in Brian Cameron's testimonial match.
Ishaka was playing locally for Enugu based Riverlane Football Academy, before moving to England to attend Brooke House College.
A left-footed winger who is capable of playing on either flank and as a centre forward, he has been likened to Villarreal's Nigeria international Samuel Chukwueze due to his playing style.
Premier League side Leicester City were interested in signing Ishaka after impressing during trials but the move has stalled over a work permit obstacle.
Ishaka was the star of the show as Brooke House College won the England Schools Football Association U18 title in May, scoring a brace in a 3-1 victory over London Nautical College.
