Chelsea's latest signing trains with Super Eagles-eligible midfielder
Published: August 31, 2022Anglo-Nigerian midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka trained with Chelsea's latest signing Wesley Fofana on Wednesday morning.
After their loss to Southampton in a Premier League meeting at the St. Mary's Stadium last night, the Blues, under the guidance of manager Thomas Tuchel, were straight back to work today.
Chukwuemeka was an unused substitute in the defeat to Southampton in what was his second squad involvement for the first team since his arrival from Aston Villa this summer.
New signing Wesley Fofana was also spotted at the training ground, familiarizing himself with his new teammates.
The Franco-Ivorian has put pen to paper on a seven-year deal, keeping him at Stamford Bridge until the end of the 2028-2029 campaign.
Through their official website, Chelsea have published a gallery of Fofana's first training session as a Blues player and in one of the images the former Leicester City centre-back was pictured in the changing room with Chukwuemeka.
Chukwuemeka and Fofana will be hoping to make their competitive debuts on Saturday September 3 when Chelsea take on West Ham United.
The Nigeria-eligible young star hasn't made a single appearance for Chelsea's first team, although he has been involved in two matches for the development squad in the Premier League 2 as he aims to build up his match fitness ahead of a possible senior debut.
In the provisional Premier League standings, Chelsea occupy eighth position with seven points from five games.
