Video : Injured Lorient striker Moffi reacts angrily after being substituted v Reims
Published: October 15, 2022Less than three weeks before Nigeria manager Jose Peseiro announces his squad list for two international friendlies against Costa Rica and Portugal, a striker in his plans for both games is struggling to be fit.
Red-hot Lorient center forward Terem Moffi was forced off injured during the first half of the Ligue 1 clash against Folarin Balogun's Stade de Reims at the Stade Yves Allainmat - Le Moustoir (Lorient) on Saturday evening.
Lorient, through their official Twitter account, confirmed that the number 13 was replaced in the 24th minute due to injury.
French sports daily L'Equipe has reported that Moffi fell badly and was hit in the right ankle after an aerial duel in the middle of the field.
The 23-year-old was visibly disappointed after he was replaced and his reaction was captured by Prime Video Sport.
Moffi had to be comforted by his teammates on the substitutes bench.
In terms of goals scored, Moffi is Nigeria's standout performer in the top five European Leagues in 2022-2023, with 8 goals in 10 matches before the visit of Reims.
He has also impressed on the international stage with three goals in his last two games for the Super Eagles, a brace against
São Tomé and Príncipe followed by his strike in last month's friendly against Algeria.
