Hull City manager confirms interest in former Chelsea and Arsenal schoolboy

Hull City manager Liam Rosenior has confirmed that the Tigers are interested in signing 2019 Golden Eaglets invitee Malcolm Ebiowei in the January transfer window.

The Crystal Palace winger spent the formative years of his career as a footballer with the youth teams of Chelsea and Arsenal, before joining the Rangers Academy, from where he transferred to Derby County.

Ebiowei blossomed into a key player for Derby County in the second half of last season under the tutelage of Wayne Rooney and his assistant Rosenior.

The England U20 international has found game time hard to come by since his arrival at Crystal Palace, having made five appearances in all competitions and was in action for less than an hour.

Rosenior revealed that Hull City need to wait and see what plans Crystal Palace have for Ebiowei before firming up their interest in him.

"Malcolm's a very good player.  He's a player that I've worked with, he's an exciting player but we have to see what the conditions are in terms of what Crystal Palace want to do with him," Rosenior told Hull Live.

"He's someone that I would be interested in working with again whether it's in the short or long term but we haven't come to make that decision yet.

"Every profile depends on what position, it's not age, it's the quality of player that I'm looking for and the most important thing for me is character. I want good characters to come into the building."

Ebiowei has to be playing regular first team football in order to improve his chances of being selected in the Young Lions squad to next year's FIFA U20 World Cup.
