Chelsea on the brink of signing 'The Ivorian Mbappe' for fee in excess of N4.7 billion
Published: December 15, 2022Premier League giants Chelsea are on the brink of confirming the signing of Molde striker David Datro Fofana dubbed 'The Ivorian Mbappe'.
According to Italian transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea and Molde have reached a club-to-club agreement for the transfer of the talented 19-year-old striker.
Romano wrote further that the transfer fee is in excess of ten million euros (approximately N4.7 billion in Nigerian currency) and the striker will join Chelsea subject to him agreeing personal terms.
Blessed with physical attributes, pace and quick acceleration, Fofana tallied fifteen goals in 24 appearances for Molde, helping them win the Eliteserien in the 2022 season.
On the international stage, he made his debut for Ivory Coast in last month's friendly against Burundi.
Chelsea are in the market for a striker ahead of the January transfer window with Armando Broja ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament rupture in the recent friendly against Aston Villa.
Fofana joined Molde from Ivorian club Academie de Foot Amadou Diallo in February 2021.
