Omonia chief admits teams courting Uzoho amid Toulouse, Colorado Rapid links, but no bid
Published: January 20, 2023Speaking to Sport FM 95.0 on Thursday, Omonia Nicosia press chief Andreas Dimitriou admitted that foreign clubs are interested in Nigeria international Francis Uzoho but reiterated that no bid has been received for the goalkeeper.
Uzoho is having an excellent season at Omonia, registering eight clean sheets in the league - something he has not managed since the 2017-2018 campaign when he posted a career best sixteen clean sheets for the Deportivo de La Coruña teams.
The 24-year-old started the season as cover for Fabiano but deservedly usurped the Brazilian in the pecking order of goalkeepers after his stunning display against Manchester United in the Europa League.
Italian transfer market reporter Luca Bendoni claimed this week that Major League Soccer club Colorado Rapids are interested in the Super Eagles star and added that French Ligue 1 side Toulouse have made preliminary contact to sign the goalkeeper.
"It is logical that there is interest. He is a very good goalkeeper, at a good age and he is also an international. But we have nothing before us," Dimitriou was quoted as saying by Sigma Live.
"He is an important player for Omonia, so we should have something very good in front of us to discuss".
Uzoho will enter the last one year of his contract with Omonia Nicosia at the end of this season.
