PL2 : 2023 Flying Eagles invitee on target for Crystal Palace in win over Chelsea

Crystal Palace's development squad registered their fourth successive win in all competitions after beating Chelsea 2-1 in a Premier League 2 fixture at Kingsmeadow on Monday evening, with six Nigeria-eligible players in action for the Eagles.

2023 Flying Eagles invitees Owen Goodman and Ademola Ola-Adebomi were joined in the starting lineup by newly capped England U18 international David Ozoh, Tayo Adaramola and Victor Akinwale.

David Omilabu entered the game as a substitute a minute into stoppage time, replacing Ola-Adebomi, who trained with Nigeria's U20 national team in Abuja before their trip to Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Goodman did well to deny Mason Burstow from opening the scoring in the second minute

Twenty minutes into the contest, Ben Elliot found the bottom corner to make it 1-0 after he was teed up by Omari Hutchinson.

Ola-Adebomi finished from close range to restore parity six minutes before halftime with Ozoh providing the assist

Chelsea came close to regaining the lead in the 59th minute when Lewis Hall fired a shot across goal, only to be denied by a fingertip save from Goodman.

Jack Wells-Morrison netted what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 69th minute when he converted a spot kick awarded after Akinwale was brought down in the box.

Anglo-German-Nigerian fullback Derrick Abu was an unused substitute for Chelsea.
