Hale End products Akpom, Tella nominated for PFA Championship Fans' POTY award
Published: May 16, 2023Arsenal's Hale End Academy products Chuba Akpom and Nathan Tella have been nominated for the Championship PFA Vertu Motor Fans' Player of the Year award following their performances for Middlesbrough and Burnley respectively.
Akpom registered 28 goals and two assists in 38 appearances to help Middlesbrough into the playoffs.
He finished as the top scorer in the Championship and was named the EFL Player of the Year, Boro's Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year.
Tella on the other hand also played a pivotal role for Burnley as they won the Championship and regained promotion back to the Premier League by scoring 17 goals and registering 5 assists in 39 appearances.
The Anglo-Nigerian duo will slug it out with Manchester United loanee, Amad Diallo, Viktor Gyokeres (Coventry City), Carlton Morris (Luton Town) and Iliman N'Diaye (Sheffield United)
The winner of the award is determined by votes of fans, members of the players' trade union and the Professional Football Association.
Akpom and Tella were named in the EFL's Championship team of the season last month.
