Burnley make enquiries over signing phenomenal Nigerian striker with 20 goals in 21 games
Published: May 29, 2023
Premier League newcomers Burnley are the latest club linked with a summer move for Nigerian striker Gift Orban.
According to reliable RMC Sport journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the Clarets have asked for information about signing the KAA Gent prodigy.
Tavolieri also tweeted that Vincent Kompany is also targeting a move for Metz's Georgia international Georges Mikautadze, who was named Player of the Season in the Ligue 2 this month.
It is no surprise that the Manchester City legend is scouring the Belgian market for a potential addition to his squad, given that he represented Anderlecht during his playing days and was a Belgium international for fifteen years before hanging up his boots.
Orban has made a splash since arriving in Belgium by scoring goals aplenty - twenty in 21 all-competition appearances.
The 20-year-old is on the radar of several clubs in the top five European Leagues, with the most concrete interest coming from Lille who are in touch with his representatives over the possibility of signing him.
Gent acquired Orban from Norwegian club Stabæk in exchange for three million euros, and his contract with the Buffalos runs out on June 30, 2027.
He ranked third in the 2023 Ebony Shoe - an award won by Kompany in 2004 and 2005.
