Official: Super Falcons striker Okoronkwo joins Liga F club UDG Tenerife
Published: June 01, 2023Super Falcons striker, Esther Okoronkwo has joined Liga F side, UD Granadilla Tenerife from French club Saint-Étienne.
This was confirmed on UDG Teneriffe's social media account and she becomes the first signing of the club ahead of the 2023/2024 season.
Okoronkwo will be expected to improve the fortune of the club in front of goal as they struggled to find the back of the net in the just concluded season, scoring 35 goals, the second-fewest among teams that finished in the top half of the table.
The Nigeria international helped AS Saint-Étienne achieve promotion to the French D1 in 2022-2023.
She joined Saint-Étienne in 2021 from United States-based Lamar Lady Cardinals having caught the eye with her return in front of goals, scoring 35 goals in 39 games.
Okoronkwo made her first international appearance for the Super Falcons of Nigeria in 2021, in a friendly match against Jamaica, and got her first goal against Costa Rica in the 2023 Women's Revelations Cup in February.
The 26-year-old, who has inked a two-year deal until 2025, links up with international teammate Gift Monday at UD Granadilla Tenerife.
