Three reasons Super Eagles star Ndidi should leave Leicester City for Celtic
Published: June 23, 2023
Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has been linked with a move away from Leicester City following their relegation to the English Championship.
In 2017, Leicester City paid Belgian side Racing Genk £17 million for his services and has been a success since then, featuring in 237 games and winning two trophies.
The Super Eagles midfielder established himself as one of the best holding midfielders in the Premier League before the Foxes' relegation last season.
With their demotion to England's second-tier, it is time the former Genk midfielder end his six-year-old stay at the King Power Stadium.
He has been linked with Scottish giants Celtic and below are three reasons he should leave Leicester City for the Scottish Premiership champions
1. Reunion with his former manager: Brendan Rodgers was in charge of Leicester City till April 2023 and is now in charge of Cetic which informs the reason behind Ndidi being linked with the club.
With the potential to work with his former manager, he would be working with a manager that knows his quality and he won't need much convincing before being given game time.
2. Opportunity to win trophies: Celtic have won 9 of the league titles in the last 10 seasons in Scotland and it is difficult to see that change with Rodgers in charge.
The Northern Irish manager was previously in charge of the Hoops between 2016 to 2019 and won 7 titles in his first stint.
Ndidi has won just two titles in his career and will have the opportunity of winning more laurels if he joins the Celtic
3. European Participation: With Celtic winning the league last season, participation in European competition is guaranteed.
They were involved in last season's UEFA Champions League last season and have qualified for the competition for next season, having won the league.
Ndidi has only made four appearances in the competition and will have the opportunity to feature once again for the first time in 6 years if he joins the Scottish giants.
