Confirmed: Chelsea sign striker who was involved in 50 goals last season
Published: June 24, 2023Through their official website, Premier League giants Chelsea have announced the capture of Jamaica international Dujuan ‘Whisper’ Richards on undisclosed terms.
Born in November 2005, Richards will complete his transfer to the Blues when he attains the age of majority.
In February, the attacker trained with Newcastle United but has chosen to join Chelsea over the Magpies.
The Port Royal native had a banner schoolboy season with a goal involvement of 50 (31 goals, 19 assists) for Kingston College.
Richards made his international debut against Trinidad & Tobago in March 2023 and earned his third cap against Qatar on June 15.
The 17-year-old was included in Jamaica's 23-man squad that will participate in the CONCACAF Gold Cup starting this weekend.
Jamaica's first match in Group A will be played on Sunday morning against the United States of America.
Richards joined Phoenix Allstars Football Academy at the age of 11 and has faced English opposition at youth level in the past, at the 2022 Manning Cup.
It is envisaged that Richards won't have problems adapting to his new team given that fellow Jamaican Omari Hutchinson is on the books of Chelsea
