Manchester United-reared defender Balogun signs new Watford deal
Published: June 27, 2023
Manchester United-reared defender Hamzat Balogun has signed a new deal with EFL Championship side Watford.
Sky Sports is reporting that former Manchester United academy player Hamzat Balogun has signed his first professional contract at Watford.
The new deal signed by Balogun has ended speculation about his future.
He was one of the academy players retained by Watford for the forthcoming season, subject to the fullback putting pen to paper on a new contract.
The 2005-born player was rewarded with fresh terms after his impressive performances for the Hornets youth teams over the course of the 2022-2023 season.
He helped Watford's development squad qualify for the finals of the Herts Senior Challenge Cup, and also starred as the U18s reached the fifth round of the prestigious FA Youth Cup.
Balogun was on the books of Manchester United for close to a decade before signing scholarship forms with Watford in August 2021.
Although he has been capped by England at U16 level, he remains eligible to suit up for the Flying Eagles through his dad.
