Arsenal confident of agreeing new deal with Anglo-Nigerian youngster despite Chelsea's interest
Published: June 29, 2023Arsenal are confident of agreeing on a new deal with history-making midfielder of Nigerian descent Ethan Nwaneri.
Transfer market guru Fabrizio Romano revealed on his Twitter page on Thursday morning that Arsenal are now increasingly confident to keep 2007-born gem Ethan Nwaneri at the club and added that a new deal is almost agreed despite interest from top clubs.
Chelsea are believed to be one of the top clubs monitoring the situation of the England U17 international and it has been claimed that the Blues have already tabled an offer to sign him on scholarship terms ahead of next season.
Manchester United and Manchester City have also been linked with the Hale End Academy product.
Arsenal have been working tooth and nail to keep the 16-year-old at the club with Gunners' first team boss Mikel Arteta involved in the discussion.
Arteta rates the England youth International highly and it was no surprise that he handed him his Premier League debut last season which made him the youngest debutant in English top-flight history.
Nwaneri's schoolboy contract with Arsenal ends on Friday after which he would be eligible to sign a scholarship contract with another team.
