Marseille eye move for Super Eagles left-back Zaidu after return of Tavares to Arsenal
Published: June 30, 2023
French giants Olympique de Marseille are reportedly eyeing a move for Porto left-back, Zaidu Sanusi to fill the void left by Nuno Tavares who has returned to his parent club Arsenal after the expiration of his loan term
According to Portuguese sports daily Record via Le Phoceen, the French side are interested in the services of the left-back.
Marseille are short of options at left-back as ex-Arsenal defender Sead Kolasinac, who played at center back for majority of last season and is also capable of being used at left-back, is heavily linked with an imminent move to Atalanta on a free transfer.
Les Phocéens will be competing in the UEFA Champions League next season and could make do with the experience of Sanusi who has logged 24 appearances in the competition
The Super Eagles full-back joined Porto in the 2020/2021 season and has featured consistently for the Portuguese outfit.
The 26-year-old has made 112 appearances in all competition for the Blue and Whites scoring 6 goals and bagging one assist.
With his current contract set to expire in 2027, he is valued at 8 million Euros by Transfermarkt.com.
Porto seem to be preparing for the exit of the Lagos-born defender as they have been linked with another Nigerian left-back Bruno Onyemaechi.
