Report: Man Utd have N64b left to sign a new striker amid links with N124b-rated Osimhen
Published: June 30, 2023
Manchester United could be priced out of a move for Nigeria international Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer window.
Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount's imminent transfer to Old Trafford has reduced the transfer budget by £55million.
Manchester Evening News has suggested that the Red Devils have to go off their budget to sign Napoli sensation Osimhen as they have only £65million (equated to N64 billion in Nigerian currency) to spend on a striker.
United have also been linked with possible moves for Harry Kane, Rasmus Hojlund, Randal Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos, but they would command fees of more than £65m.
Napoli have no intention of selling Osimhen this summer amid interest from Premier League clubs, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, and have slapped a price tag of 150 million euros (N124b) to scare off potential suitors.
The 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup Golden Boot winner is one of the most coveted strikers in the world at the moment after a banner season that saw him score 31 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions.
The 24-year-old became the first African player in history to win the Capocannoniere award and was named Serie A Best Striker for 2022-2023.
Osimhen has been offered a new deal that would keep him at Napoli until the summer of 2027 but the contract has not yet been signed.
