Anglo-Nigerian wonderkid trains with development squad after extending Arsenal stay
Published: July 01, 2023England U17 international of Nigerian descent Ethan Nwaneri has ended speculation about his future by agreeing two new deals with Premier League giants Arsenal ahead of the forthcoming season.
The Gunners will confirm their new intake of academy scholars for the 2023-2024 season in the coming days, with Nwaneri part of the group after putting pen to paper on a scholarship contract which will be upgraded to a professional deal in March 2024.
Nwaneri was spotted training with Arsenal's development squad at London Colney on Friday, June 30, in what would have been his final day as a Gunner had he not extended his stay at the Emirates Stadium.
He was put through his paces by Arsenal's youth team coaches Max Porter and Adam Pilling.
Capable of playing as an attacking midfielder and winger, the 16-year-old has been officially promoted to Arsenal U18s squad but that's on paper as everything indicates that he will get chances to play for the development squad.
Last season, the Anglo-Nigerian wonderkid made nine appearances for Arsenal U21s in the Premier League 2, played two games in the Papa Johns Trophy and also made his debuts in the Premier League Cup and Premier League International Cup for the age group.
Another attack-minded Anglo-Nigerian teenager Henry Timi Davies was also involved in Friday's session.
