Arsenal demand club record fee of N49b to sell striker of Nigerian descent this summer

Arsenal will demand a club record fee to sell cap-tied United States international of Nigeria descent Folarin Balogun in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners have reportedly slapped a a £50 million (approximately N49b in Nigerian currency) price tag on the Anglo-American-Nigerian center forward, according to Sky Sports presenter Dharmesh Sheth on the Transfer Show.

If Balogun is sold for that figure, he would become the most expensive departure in Arsenal's history, overtaking Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who moved to Liverpool in exchange for £34.2m

Balogun wants to leave Arsenal this summer with his chances of playing regularly for Mikel Arteta's side looking slim.

He joined Arsenal at the age of eight and was considered one of the hottest prospects from the famous Hale Academy but has not gotten enough first-team opportunities.

This is why he has been loaned out on two occasions, first to Middlesbrough and then to Reims where he played last season.

The 22-year-old enjoyed the best season in his professional career in the Ligue 1 with Reims having bagged 21 goals and two assists in 37 appearances.

Having proven himself in the French top-flight the USMNT striker has attracted the interest of Olympique Marseille, AC Milan, Inter, RB Leipzig and Crystal Palace.

Up until recently, he was eligible to play for the Super Eagles and the Three Lions but has chosen to represent the United States.
