Snapped: Brighton coach promotes 2019 Golden Eaglets invitee to first team training
Published: July 04, 20232019 Golden Eaglets invitee Odel Offiah has been promoted to first team training by Brighton & Hove manager Roberto De Zerbi, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The Seagulls started preparations for the forthcoming season on Monday, July 3 and central defender Offiah was pictured training with the first team.
Offiah joined Brighton on a scholarship deal in 2017,rising through the ranks before making his senior debut in a Carabao Cup clash with Cardiff City in August 2021 and played his first game in the FA Cup five months later.
The 20-year-old will be aiming to follow in the footsteps of academy graduate Evan Ferguson who broke into the first team as a teenager last season.
Last season, Offiah received seven call-ups for Premier League games and was utilized off the bench on two occasions at the back end of the campaign, against Nottingham Forest in April when he made his Premier League debut and also saw game time at Newcastle United the following month.
As part of their preparations for the upcoming season, Brighton have lined up friendlies against Chelsea, Brentford and Newcastle United in July, while they will take on Rayo Vallecano before their season opener against Premier League new boys Luton Town.
Offiah is in contention to make his debut in European competition next season with the Seagulls qualifying for the group stage of the Europa League by virtue of finishing sixth in the 2022-2023 Premier League.
