Pundit backs brand new Rangers signing Dessers to fill the void left by Morelos
Published: July 08, 2023Daily Record pundit Scott Burns has tipped brand new Rangers signing Cyriel Dessers to fill the void left by Alfredo Morelos at the club.
Dessers became Rangers' sixth signing on Thursday when his transfer to the Scottish side was confirmed on their website.
The former Cremonese striker was reportedly signed for four million euros plus 1.5 million euros in performance-related ad-ons and has penned a four-year deal.
The Light Blues needed to bring in a proven goalscorer after Morelos left Ibrox on a free transfer leaving a huge void to be filled.
The Colombian scored 124 goals and recorded fifty-eight assists in 269 appearances in his six-year stay at the club.
Burns while answering the question of whether the Nigerian forward could fill the void left by Morelos asserted that the Nigeria international has the potential to reach the levels of the Rangers legend.
"Dessers says he is at his peak and, if that’s the case, he will be dangerous. But, fit or not, Morelos scored a lot of goals. Tough task." he told the Daily Record.
Rangers manager Michael Beale is a huge admirer of the 4-cap Nigerian International and will be hoping that the former Dutch Eredivisie top scorer can help them wrestle the Scottish Premiership from Celtic next season.
