AC Milan still interested in Chukwueze despite agreeing terms with Chelsea for USMNT captain
Published: July 08, 2023Samuel Chukwueze has been linked with a move away from Villarreal this summer following his impressive performances in the 2022/2023 campaign.
The Super Eagles star registered 24 goal contributions (13 goals and 11 assists) in 50 games across all competitions last term.
With his imperious displays, the Nigerian winger has attracted interest from AC Milan, who are hoping to build on their UEFA Champions League semifinal finish last season.
Although the interest from the Italian side seems fading away, a report from Calciomercato claims that AC Milan are still interested in the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup winner, and they will prioritize his move after completing the signing of Christian Pulisic and a midfielder.
AC Milan and Chelsea have reached a club-to-club agreement for the transfer of the United States men's national soccer team captain.
The 19-time Italian champions are interested in AZ Alkmaar's Tijjani Reijnders and will approach Valencia for Yunus Musah, if they are unable to secure a deal for the Dutch midfielder.
The Italian transfer market website added that AC Milan are done with two-thirds of the transfer objectives by extending the contract of Rafael Leao and reaching an agreement for the Chelsea winger.
Meanwhile, Villarreal are preparing for life without Chukwueze following the capture of Barcelona youngster Ilias Akhomach on a three-year deal.
The Diamond Academy product has one year left on his contract with Villarreal, whom he joined in 2017.
