Stuttgart and Augsburg hold concrete interest in signing Southampton's Nigeria striker
Published: July 09, 2023
German Bundesliga sides VfB Stuttgart and Augsburg are keenly interested in Southampton's forward Paul Onuachu.
This was revealed by Sky Deutschland's transfer market expert, Florian Plettenberg who has reported that both Bundesliga outfits have held talks with the Super Eagles forward.
According to Plettenberg, Onuachu is demanding a huge salary which is said to be 1.5 million euros per year, a figure considered too much for Augsburg.
The Bavaria-based side scored 42 goals last season which is one of the fewest in the Bundesliga and escaped relegation by the whiskers which explains their interest in the former Genk forward.
For VfB Stuttgart, Onuachu is considered as a replacement for Serhou Guirassy who finished as their top scorer last season and has been linked with an exit from the club
Onuachu failed to find the back of the net in the eleven appearances he made for Southampton last season in the Premier League but seems not to be short of suitors as he had earlier proven his efficiency in front of goal in the Jupiler Pro League.
The former Jupiler Pro League top scorer has also been linked with two other German teams Borussia Monchengladbach and Schalke 04.
