Published: July 10, 2023
Through their official website, German 3. Liga club SV Waldhof Mannheim have announed that they have secured the services of German-Nigerian winger Samuel Abifade.
The left-footed player has joined SV Waldhof Mannheim from their 3.Liga rivals SV Meppen.
Former Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr represented his hometown club SV Waldhof Mannheim for one year following his departure from Bayern Munich.
SV Waldhof Mannheim swooped for Abifade after he impressed against them last season with a hat-trick for SV Meppen in a 6-2 rout of The Waldhof Boys.
Abifade, who was born in Braunschweig and has German and Nigerian citizenship, was trained at Leu Braunschweig, FT Braunschweig and Eintracht Braunschweig, before transferring to VfL Wolfsburg in 2019.
He won the DFB-Pokal Juniors and SHFV Cup as a player of Eintracht Braunschweig U19s and VfB Lübeck respectively.
In his first words as a player of SV Waldhof Mannheim, Abifade stated: "I would like to thank those responsible at SV Waldhof Mannheim 07.
"I had talks with both Tim Schork and Rüdiger Rehm that finally convinced me to move to the club. The prospect of playing in front of this unique backdrop at the Carl Benz Stadium is also very appealing to me.
"Now it's time to get down to business and find my feet in the team with good performances in training"
For the upcoming season, Abifade has been assigned the number 17 jersey.
