Done deal: 2019 Nigeria U23 invitee departs Glasgow Celtic for Amiens SC
Published: July 25, 2023Through a statement on their official website, French Ligue 2 club Amiens SC have announced the permanent signing of 2019 Nigeria U23 invitee Osaze Urhoghide from Scottish Premiership champions Glasgow Celtic.
Urhoghide has put pen to paper on a three-year contract that will see him remain in the Hauts-de-France region until June 30, 2026.
The 23-year-old is leaving Celtic without making his debut in the Premiership, League Cup and Scottish Cup.
From the eighteen call-ups he received for first team games during his time at Parkhead, his only game came in a dead rubber Europa League tie with Real Betis in December 2021.
Urhoghide began his professional career with AFC Wimbledon before joining Sheffield Wednesday, from where he moved to Celtic in July 2021.
The central defender found it difficult breaking into Celtic's first team, leading to back-to-back loan spells at KV Oostende, where he played on a regular basis, with 36 appearances under his belt across one and a half seasons.
Born in the Netherlands, Urhoghide also qualifies to represent England where he has lived since the age of five and the Super Eagles through his Nigerian parents.
He trained with Nigeria's Olympic national team before a 2019 U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Libya.
