'Scores with class and power' - Chukwueze gets praise from pundit after first AC Milan goal
Published: August 13, 2023
Samuel Chukwueze's first goal in AC Milan colours helped the seven-time European champions beat Novara 4-2 in their final pre-season friendly on Sunday morning.
AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli rotated the starting XI from yesterday's friendly against Etoile du Sahel in order to give minutes to every member of the squad.
Chukwueze broke the deadlock nine minutes into the contest when he took advantage of a loose throw in, rounded goalkeeper Desjardins and slotted into an empty net.
The former Villarreal man was involved in the build-up to Milan's second goal netted by Noah Okafor, with the Switzerland international of Nigeria international smashing home a rebound after the goalkeeper parried a shot from the Super Eagles winger.
Chukwueze earned praise from Calciomercato's reporter Simone Gervasio, who rated him among the top three outstanding AC Milan players on parade at Centro Sportivo Milanello.
"His first goal for the Rossoneri explains a lot of what can be expected from him. Okafor helps him recover the ball, he takes it and flies towards the goal," Gervasio wrote.
"He easily dribbles the goalkeeper, fakes to avoid the defenders stationed on the line and scores with class and power."
Milan's other scorers were Davide Calabria and Lorenzo Colombo, while Niccolo Corti and Luca Prinelli got on the scoresheet for Novara.
AC Milan's new number 21, Chukwueze will be aiming to make his Italian Serie A debut on August 21 when the Rossoneri travel to Bologna for their first competitive game of the 2023-2024 season.
