'Of course' - Pochettino reveals Chelsea are looking at other options after missing out on Olise
Published: August 18, 2023
Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that the club is looking at other options in the forward areas after missing out on Michael Olise.
The 21-year-old has turned down the opportunity to move to Stamford Bridge by signing a new deal with Crystal Palace.
Chelsea thought they were close to getting the French-Nigerian winger but he has chosen to commit his future to Crystal Palace rather than join the Blues.
The 6-time English champions want to bolster their attacking options before the close of the transfer window and it appears they are already looking elsewhere after being turned down by Olise.
As revealed by Pochettino in his pre-match conference, they are already considering alternative options to the former Reading star and also keeping an eye on Armando Broja who is returning from injury.
In quotes relayed by Football. London, the Argentine tactician said: "We are working, of course. We are looking at all of the options that we can manage on the market. We can see the potential. But I think at the same time, we are keeping one or two eyes on Armando Broja.
"We cannot forget him. We cannot stop him. We really believe in him – we know how important he can be for Chelsea. We need to be careful.
"I think it's a big disappointment with the situation of Christoph, because he should be a really important player for us and to help Nico Jackson score goals. That is football and we need to accept that situation."
They are now being linked with a move for Bradley Barcola who is also being eyed by French giants PSG.
Chelsea have made eight signings so far in this transfer window with Ângelo, Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson being the forwards signed.
