In the Championship, Southampton registered back-to-back away wins by beating Plymouth Argyle 2-1 at Home Park.
After a goalless first half, Nathan Tella opened the scoring three minutes into the second half when he curled home from the edge of the box, his second goal involvement this season having bagged an assist at Sheffield Wednesday on the opening day.
Hakeem Odoffin has also started the season in good form, netting in back-to-back games as Rotherham United were beaten 2-1 by Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
Odoffin slotted home from inside the box twenty minutes in but was forced off injured just before the half-hour mark.
A division lower, Cambridge United left it late to beat Bristol Rovers 2-0 at the Abbey Stadium.
Onetime Nigeria Football Federation target Fejiri Okenabirhie was an impact sub for the home team as he opened the scoring six minutes after his introduction.
In the 79th minute, the former Arsenal schoolboy received the ball inside the box and curled it into the bottom corner to take his tally for the season to 3 goals in 5 matches.
He then set up Sullay Kaikai for Cambridge United's second goal in the sixth minute of stoppage time.
Elsewhere, Nigerian-born striker Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan was the hero for Reading in their 2-0 win against Stevenage.
Ehibhatiomhan powered a header past goalkeeper Hegyi four minutes into first half stoppage time to open the scoring and doubled the advantage at minute 57 when he stabbed in a rebound.
In the League Two, former Manchester United winger Deji Sotona netted a consolation goal for Doncaster Rovers as they suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Notts County.
Sotona scored his first senior goal in the fifth minute of second half stoppage time when he drilled the ball into the bottom corner
