Video: Onuachu mobbed by fans as he arrives in Turkey to seal Trabzonspor move
Published: September 10, 2023
Paul Onuachu's transfer to Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor is imminent following his arrival in Turkey on Saturday.
Turkish news agency, Demirören Haber Ajansı has uploaded a video to their X page showing the Nigeria international surrounded by jubilant Trabzonspor fans at the Trabzon Airport International Terminal.
Onuachu is in Trabzon to complete negotiations with Trabzonspor and undergo a medical examination ahead of his unveiling.
The Super Eagles star landed in Trabzon at 2150 hours and was cheered by the fans as he made his way into a waiting car that took him to the hotel where he would be staying.
Trabzonspor have made statement signings in the summer transfer window, bringing in Mislav Orsic and Nicolas Pépé from Southampton and Arsenal respectively, and Onuachu is set to be their next high profile signing.
The 6 foot 7 inch striker moved to the Premier League in January, joining Southampton on a three-and-a-half-year deal but has failed to replicate his performances for Racing Genk, where he mustered 85 goals in 134 appearances.
After four matches, Trabzonspor are the joint-highest scoring team in the Super Lig alongside Hatayspor with eight goals.
