Nine games in a row: Awoniyi with another goal contribution as Nottingham Forest, Burnley share spoils
Published: September 18, 2023
Taiwo Awoniyi continued his laudable start to the season as he helped Nottingham Forest secure a draw against Burnley on matchday 5 of the Premier League played at the City ground on Monday night.
It was the Super Eagles striker who assisted former Chelsea forward Callum Hudson-Odoi for his goal which helped Forest draw level after Zeki Amdouni put the Clarets ahead in the encounter.
Having recorded an assist against the newly promoted side, Awoniyi has now scored or assisted in nine consecutive Premier League games dating back to his brace versus Southampton on matchday 35 in the 2022-2023 season.
It is also interesting to know that with just 5 games into the season, the former Liverpool forward has surpassed his assist tally for last season.
He was substituted two minutes before the end of the game with Vincent Kompany's side and was replaced by Chris Wood.
Super Eagles right back Ola Aina also featured alongside Awoniyi for Nottingham Forest.
The Cobham product started the game as a left-back but finished as a right-back after Gonzalo Montiel who initially played the position was substituted for former Arsenal defender, Nuno Tavares.
