Official: Flying Eagles-eligible central defender signs new contract at Crystal Palace

With a statement on their official website, Crystal Palace have confirmed that Flying Eagles-eligible central defender Mofe Jemide has inked a new contract with the club.
Jemide, who began the 2023-2024 season as a first-year scholar, has signed his first professional contract with the Eagles, a reward for his outstanding performances for the youth teams.
Last season, he was one of the most used players in the academy ranks, playing in 25 out of a possible 26 games in all competitions for the U18 side.
On the international stage, he helped England qualify for the 2023 Fifa U17 World Cup in Indonesia, making three appearances in the group stage of the tournament held in Hungary.
The Tottenham-born defender joined Crystal Palace from Barnet at the age of eleven and featured for the U21s in their pre-season tour of Salt Lake City in the summer.
He has been described as a commanding, modern-day, centre-back who is comfortable on the ball and calm under pressure.
Jemide was a member of the Palace squad that finished runners-up in the U15 National Floodlit Cup final against Sunderland in the 2021-2022 season.
The 17-year-old will be aiming to follow in the footsteps of Victor Moses and David Ozoh who rose through the academy ranks to make their first team debuts for Crystal Palace.
