'The player is moving away from Napoli' - Ex-Lazio star predicts when Osimhen will leave Italian champions
Published: November 11, 2023
Former Lazio goalkeeper Fernando Orsi has predicted that Victor Osimhen will depart Italian champions Napoli at the end of the 2023-2024 season.
The Nigeria international will enter the last eighteen months of his contract at Napoli in January and there is no agreement yet between the club and player to extend his stay.
Osimhen continues to be linked with a transfer to the English Premier League and Chelsea are one of the clubs monitoring his situation closely.
The Blues want to sign a marquee center forward due to Nicolas Jackson's inconsistent form and the limited impact of Armando Broja since the Albanian recovered from injury.
The 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup Golden Boot winner has proven that he has world-class quality with 65 goals in 111 appearances since landing in Naples from Lille.
Aside from Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe, Osimhen is widely regarded as the best striker in the world at the moment.
"Osimhen's management has perplexed everyone, I believe that, also due to the issue of the contract, the player is moving away from Napoli, even if perhaps he will not leave in January but in June," Orsi said to Marte Sport Live, via Tutto Napoli.
Osimhen has been omitted from the Nigeria squad for their upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Lesotho and Zimbabwe due to a hamstring injury
