Nigeria-eligible winger who trained with Chelsea first team this month nominated for Goal of the Month again
Published: November 30, 2023
England youth international of Nigerian descent Tyrique George has been nominated for Chelsea's Goal of the Month award for the second consecutive month.
The talented winger has been shortlisted for the November award following his strike against Blackburn Rovers in the U18 Premier League Cup.
George is the only academy player nominated for the November prize and the five other contenders for the award include Raheem Sterling, who has been double nominated, Thiago Silva, Sam Kerr, Lauren James and Aggie Beever-Jones
Against Blackburn Rovers, George fired into the top corner in the 80th minute to put the game out of the reach of the visitors.
The 17-year-old was nominated for the October prize but missed out on the award to Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk.
George has been one of the standout players for Chelsea's youth teams in the 2023-2024 campaign with nine goals in all competitions so far this season.
A breakdown of his goals reveals that four were scored in the U18 Premier League, three in the U21 Premier League Cup and one each in the U18 Premier League Cup and Premier League International Cup.
He was promoted to first team training by Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino during the international break in November on the back of his excellent form for the youth teams.
