'When I was at Arsenal' - Super Eagles midfielder Iwobi reveals the best player he has ever played with
Published: February 07, 2024Speaking ahead of Nigeria's semifinal clash with South Africa at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Aex Iwobi has revealed the best player he's ever played with in his career.
Born in Lagos twenty seven years ago, Iwobi moved to Turkey along with his parents when he was four months and has been living in England since the age of one.
The Super Eagles midfielder started his career at Arsenal, where he spent fifteen years, before sealing a permanent transfer to Everton after the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Overall, Iwobi appeared in 149 matches for the Gunners, registering 15 goals, one of which was against Chelsea in the 2019 Europa League final in his last game as an Arsenal player.
The Hale End Academy product has picked Santi Cazorla as the best player he has played with.and added that he knows a few words in French due to his Arsenal connection.
Speaking to Voice of Nigeria, Iwobi said: "The best player I have played with is Santi Cazorla when I was at Arsenal.
"I have always been around a lot of French players especially when I was at Arsenal so I've learned a few words. Maybe another time I'll probably try to learn some more."
Iwobi has been involved in the last sixteen matches played by the Super Eagles at the Africa Cup of Nations and is set to make his seventeenth appearance against Bafana Bafana on Wednesday evening.
