Osimhen's replacement: Transfer expert names the two Nigerian strikers on Napoli's wishlist
Published: March 31, 2024Italian transfer expert Niccolò Ceccarini has named Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface and Dutch-Nigerian striker Joshua Zirkzee as two players on Napoli's wish list of targets to replace Victor Osimhen.
The Serie A defending champions are likely to lose their star striker in the summer with interest set to be stiff for his services, particularly between PSG, Chelsea, and Arsenal.
The Parthenopeans are already looking at possible replacements for the 25-year-old with Boniface and Zirkzee among the strikers being targeted by the Italian side.
In his article for Tuttomercatoweb via Area Napoli, Ceccarini revealed that the two strikers are being monitored by Napoli.
"Napoli will not give discounts to anyone and whoever wants it will have to invest an amount very close to the release clause. Premier and Paris Saint Germain remain the most probable hypotheses. club azzurro has been moving to evaluate the best profiles for some time.
"David from Lille is one of these but there are also other options on the list. Let's start with Santiago Gimenez from Feyenoord, protagonist of an extraordinary season in Holland.
"For him at the moment 25 appearances, 21 goals in the Eredivisie and 4 assists, to which they add 2 goals in the Champions League and 1 in the Europa League.
"As a result, his market value has risen to around 40 million euros. Besides him there is also Benjamin Sesko . The young Leipzig striker (born in 2003), has certainly a lot of talent. Many are thinking about it for next year and the Italian club has also entered the list of suitors. Also in this case the evaluation is approximately the same as that of Gimenez.
"Remaining in the Bundesliga, Napoli is also monitoring Victor Boniface of Bayer Leverkusen, born in 2000. Zirkzee from Bologna is obviously on the list but the Italian competition here is very strong."
Boniface has played a key role in Bayer Leverkusen's quest to win their first Bundesliga title, mustering 17 goals involvements in 16 appearances before he got injured in January.
It has been reported that an unnamed Premier League club has already made an enquiry about his services but Bayer Leverkusen will only sell him if they receive an offer worth more than 55 million Euros.
Likewise, Zirkzee has been one of the stand-out players for a Bologna side that have taken everyone by surprise, notching 14 goal contributions in 27 games in the Serie A.
The Dutch-Nigeria forward has also been linked with Tottenham, Arsenal, Manchester United and a host of other Premier League clubs.
