Manchester Unted's Nigerian striker agrees move to West Ham on scholarship deal
Published: May 05, 2024English Premier League giants Manchester United have bid farewell to promising Nigerian striker Majid Balogun.
Balogun was among the five U16 players the Red Devils presented with a framed jersey before their departure from the club.
It was already know that Balogun would not be signing a scholarship agreement with Manchester United, as he was permitted to train with Leeds United's youth team in February 2024.
According to The Secret Scout, the talented forward has already found a new club, West Ham United, ahead of next season, and it is believed that he will put pen to paper on a scholarship deal.
The other four players released Leech, Freeman, Seim and Nathaniel have already agreed moves to Hull City, Everton, Sheffield United and Stockport County respectively.
Balogun is leaving Manchester United without making his competitive debut for the U18s and will be looking forward to his first appearance in the U18 Premier League next season.
He made a bit of history when he joined Manchester United's Academy in 2022 as he became the first player from grassroots club Lambeth Tigers to join the red half of Manchester.
Balogun also became the second player in the club's history to join directly from grassroots from the South of England.
Emeka Adiele, Rayan Oyebade, Tyron Akpata, Elisha Sowunmi, Favour Fawunmi and Josh Ajala played for the U18 team of the Hammers this season.
