Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman named in Serie A Team of the Week
Published: May 28, 2024
Ademola Lookman has been named in Whoscored's Italian Serie A Team of the Week for the final day of the season.
The Nigeria international continued his rich vein of form with a goal as Atalanta thrashed Torino 3-0 at the Gewiss Stadium on Sunday evening.
Two minutes before halftime, the hero of Atalanta's Europa League win doubled the advantage with a tap-in after De Ketelaere found Pašalić, whose shot was parried by Gemello into the path of the Super Eagles forward.
Lookman had a hand in Atalanta's third goal, winning a penalty converted by Mario Pasalic in the 71st minute.
The former Everton man registered a joint game-high four shots, along with Emil Holm and Mario Pasalic, while making two key passes.
He won one foul and one aerial duel, completed 76.7 percent of his passes, and made one tackle over the course of ninety minutes.
In a 4-4-2 formation, Lookman is joined in midfield by Rafael Leão (AC Milan), Tomáš Suslov (Hellas Verona) and Federico Chiesa (Juventus).
Lecce goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone starts in goal, protected by a back four of Napoli's Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Inter Milan's Carlos Augusto, Juventus' Alex Sandro and Salernitana's Junior Sambia.
Matteo Cancellieri (Empoli) and Tijjani Noslin (Hellas Verona) are the two strikers selected in the Best XI.
Lookman will be one of the last players to report for international duty ahead of Nigeria's World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin as Atalanta still have a rescheduled game to play in the Serie A.
