N239m-rated Super Falcons midfielder submits transfer request at Juventus ahead of Olympic Games
Published: June 22, 2024Super Falcons midfielder Jennifer Echegini is angling for a move away from six-time Serie A champions Juventus.
The Dutch-born player arrived at the Bianconere in the January transfer window, signing a two-and-a-half-year contract until June 30, 2026.
According to Tuttojuve, Echegini has communicated to Juventus her desire to leave Turin, saying she has not integrated well into Italian football and their mentality.
Despite her transfer request, Juventus are planning to include the Nigeria international in the squad for the training camp scheduled for July 18 while waiting for possible concrete offers.
Echegini is unlikely to be available for the training camp, given that she's all but guaranteed a roster spot for the 2024 Olympic Games, where the Super Falcons will do battle with Brazil, Spain and Japan.
Juventus are keen on retaining the services of the talented midfielder for the upcoming season but are ready to listen to offers in the region of 150,000 euros (approximately N239m in Nigerian currency).
Despite joining Juventus in January, Echegini caught the eye, hitting double digits for goals - one of just two midfielders to do so, along with Roma's Manuela Giugliano.
The 23-year-old was named to the Serie A Team of the Season and recognized as the Best U23 Player in the division.
