Nigeria, England, Germany, Austria in four-way battle for the services of Tottenham's teenage winger
Published: July 09, 2024
Alnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Tottenham Hotspur youth teamer Miracle Adewole has sparked an international tug-of-war over his services.
Adewole committed his future to The Lilywhites at the start of this month by putting pen to paper on a scholarship deal, but his international future is yet to be resolved.
Born in Germany, the highly-rated winger is eligible to represent Germany as well as Nigeria and Austria by virtue of being born to a father who is a citizen of Nigeria and Austria.
He also qualifies to play for England's Young Lions, having lived in the country for more than a decade.
The German Football Association made the first step to capping him by inviting him to an U16 national team training camp after he was recommended to the coaching staff.
The English Football Association considered naming him on two youth team rosters last season but there was no positive feedback from Tottenham Hotspur as the winger was expected to feature in the FA Youth Cup.
There is a possibility Adewole could commit his international future to Austria, considering the fact that his father is very close pals with George Alaba, the father of Real Madrid star and Austria captain of Nigerian descent, David Alaba.
Adewole has not ruled out playing for Golden Eaglets if handed a call-up by the Nigeria Football Federation.
Tottenham Hotspur have held talks with the lightning-quick forward over his international future and it should be stressed that he's under no pressure to pick England.
Adewole caught the eye in his final season as a schoolboy, registering seven goal involvements in fifteen appearances in the U18 Premier League and played in four games in the more prestigious FA Youth Cup.
