Arsenal boss Arteta continues observing Nwaneri closely ahead of upcoming USA Tour
Published: July 19, 2024
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has continued to assess history-making attacking midfielder Ethan Nwaneri ahead of the first team's upcoming trip to the United States, where they will take part in high-profile pre-season games.
The Gunners have lined up friendlies against Bournemouth, Manchester United and Liverpool as part of their preparations for the 2024-2025 Premier League season.
Nwaneri - the youngest-ever player to feature in the top-flight of English football - is certainly in contention to be named in the traveling squad to the United States, given that he has been heavily involved with the first team since the start of pre-season preparations.
The 17-year-old also trained with Arsenal's senior player in the early part of pre-season preparations last summer, traveling with the squad to Germany and was given minutes in a friendly with 1. FC Nürnberg.
He is coming off the back of a successful 2023-2024 campaign, where he directly participated in 22 goals (18 goals, 4 assists) in twenty appearances combined for the U18 and U21 teams.
On the international stage, he shone for the Young Lions at the 2024 European U17 Championship, scoring three goals in four matches.
Nwaneri trained with Arsenal's senior players such as Martin Odegaard, Emile Smith Rowe, Fabio Vieira, Jurrien TImber, Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey during Thursday's gym session at Sobha Realty Training Centre in London Colney.
Arsenal will also face Bayer Leverkusen and Olympique Lyonnais at the Emirates Stadium before their Premier League opener against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
