VfB Stuttgart reignite interest in signing Akpom after failing to strike a deal with Ajax in January

VfB Stuttgart have reignited their interest in Ajax Amsterdam striker Chuba Akpom, according to reports.
Allnigeriasoccer.com exclusively reported four months ago that VfB Stuttgart explored the possibility of signing Akpom in the January transfer window but the deal did not go through as Ajax wanted to retain him for the second part of the season.
According to Bild via Voetbal Primeur, the Bundesliga outfit have the Hale End Academy product and Chelsea forward Armando Broja on their shortlist as they seek to fortify their attacking department after the departure of Serhou Guirassy.
The report stated that Stuttgart have already head talks with the representatives of the forward on a possible move but it is yet to be known whether Ajax are aware of the German side's interest.
The Swabians have sold their star striker Guirassy to Borussia Dortmund and want to make up for his absence adequately by signing one more striker, having already completed a deal for Deniz Undav from Brighton & Hove Albion.
Ajax are ready to sell Akpom and the Dutch giants are also said to be in need of more funds which should serve as an encouragement to Stuttgart.
Akpom has also expressed his desire to play regularly after his struggle for game time last season which means that he is not opposed to leaving Ajax this summer if he can't be guaranteed playing time.
The 2022-2023 Championship top scorer has four years left on his contract with Ajax and has started each of the four competitive games played by the club in the new season.
