Paris Saint-Germain considering last-minute bid for Chelsea target Osimhen
Published: August 27, 2024
As the summer transfer window nears its close, Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain are preparing a last-minute bid to secure the services of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli.
The Super Eagles forward has been at the center of a transfer saga throughout the window.
Though he reached a personal agreement with PSG in July, the negotiation collapsed due to the French club's inability to finalize terms with Napoli.
Osimhen has also been linked to Premier League giants Chelsea but there's no agreement in place.
The London club reportedly proposed a loan arrangement with reduced wages, but the Nigerian international is said to be holding out for a loan with an obligatory buy option and is unwilling to accept a wage cut from his current Napoli contract.
With the transfer window closing in just a few days, the uncertainty surrounding Osimhen's future has intensified.
Napoli, having secured a deal for Romelu Lukaku as a potential replacement, are facing pressure to resolve the situation swiftly.
According to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, PSG are set to re-enter negotiations with a fresh offer valued between €50-60 million for Osimhen.
The decision now rests with Napoli, who also reportedly have a lucrative offer on the table from Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli, reportedly ranging from €60-70 million.
Despite interest from Saudi Arabia, Osimhen, through his agent Roberto Calenda, has publicly rejected a move to the Gulf nation.
The striker remains keen on a move to PSG, where an agreement was previously in place.
As the transfer deadline looms, all eyes will be on whether PSG can secure Osimhen's signature and bolster their attacking options following an injury to Portuguese striker Gonçalo Ramos.
