Super Eagles midfielder Ndidi battles Jamie Vardy, Jordan Ayew, 4 others for Leicester Goal of the Month
Published: September 04, 2024
Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is in the running alongside Jamie Vardy, Jordan Ayew and four others for Leicester City's Goal of the Month for August.
Ndidi's strike in the Foxes' comfortable 4-0 victory over Tranmere Rovers in the second round of the Carabao Cup was chosen among the best goals scored for the club last month.
The veteran midfielder put the ball at the back of the net in the 71st minute after a beautiful link-up play between Ayew and Harry Winks, and he deftly got past his marker to put the ball home.
Vardy's precise header in the Premier League opening fixture against Tottenham Hotspur, as well as Ayew's powerful strike against Tranmere, were nominated.
Chris Popov, who plays for the development side, is also in the running with his goal against Southampton in the Premier League 2 deemed worthy to make the list.
Winks' goal against Tranmere and Facundo Buonanotte's volley during the 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa last weekend alongside Wout Faes' effort in the 2-1 loss to Fulham were also nominated.
Under new Leicester City boss Steve Cooper, Ndidi has continued to show his importance to the Premier League side as he is yet to miss a single minute in all the games played by the Foxes since the start of the campaign.
The 27-year-old is presently in the Super Eagles' camp preparing for Saturday's 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Benin.
