Atalanta reveal the new personal record set by Lookman after goal against Como
Published: September 26, 2024
Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman set a personal record following his goal for Atalanta in a 3-2 loss to Cesc Fàbregas' Como in a Serie A encounter staged at the Gewiss Stadium on Tuesday night.
Lookman, who was a surprise omission from the starting lineup, came off the bench to replace Mateo Retegui nine minutes into the second half, with Atalanta searching for an equalizer.
Davide Zappacosta's early opener was cancelled out by Gabriel Strefezza, before Sead Kolasinac put the ball into his own net to give the visitors the advantage.
Things got more difficult for Atalanta as Alieu Fadera made it 3-1 with a shot from an acute angle two minutes before the hour mark.
In the ninth minute of stoppage time, Lookman stepped up to convert the penalty won by Vlahović to cut the deficit for the home team and set a new personal record in the process.
According to the official website of Atalanta, it marked the first time in his Serie A career that he has scored in four consecutive matches in the division.
He found the net against Torino and Fiorentina in the last two games contested by the Nerazzurri n 2023-2024, and picked up where he left off last season by putting his name on the scoresheet in back-to-back matches against Fiorentina and Como in the new season.
In October 2022, few months after his arrival in Italy, the Charlton Athletic academy product completed three consecutive scoring appearances against Sassuolo, and also netted in three games on the bounce in January 2023.
Lookman has directly participated in six goals (4 goals, 2 assists) in his last four Serie A appearances, one more than he managed in his previous eleven games of the 2023-2024 campaign.
